Little Miss Sunshine, a theater of antiheroes

Little Miss Sunshine

I was curious to see Little Miss Sunshine, perhaps the revelation film of the North American industry this year, even sneaking into the fight for the Oscars and being very applauded by the accredited journalists at that ceremony, so I watched it with all those good references . Good movie, yes sir, although perhaps the praise is exaggerated from my point of view.

The Hoover family are a group of what the United States calls 'losers' or 'losers' (if they put that label on you there, you're dead). There is the paradox, however, that the father of the family is obsessed with achieving success and believes that he has the formula to reach it in just eight steps.

A loving mother, her suicidal brother, the son who vows silence out of sheer youthful rebellion, a heroin addicted grandfather and a girl obsessed with being Miss Universe form this peculiar family. They all embark on a wild journey to accompany the little girl to the 'Little Miss Sunshine' pageant. Most of the film becomes a 'road movie' with diverse influences such as 'This dead man is very alive' or 'Two very stupid fools', although with a much more refined style.

Like The Simpsons, women play the role of diligence, while men are all extremists, with the suicidal homosexual being the most focused of all. The film rebukes certain arguments of 'American Beauty', but turns it around and presents it with all the canons of comedy.

Worth seeing, without a doubt. Good work from the actors, good soundtrack and a simple, no-bragging narration.
