Lights and shadows on the sequel to "Warcraft: The Origin"

Warcraft, Duncan Jones, Warcraft: The Origin

The director of "Warcraft, The Origin," Duncan Jones claims to be as proud as "pissed off" by the trajectory of this film. However, he also acknowledges that he would like to take over a hypothetical sequel despite the bad reviews and the commercial hit in the United States.

The case of this first film in a hypothetical saga has been very striking this year.

Although it could be considered a resounding failure if we stick to the critics and, above all, to the scarce 42,2 million euros that the film raised in the United States, the film has a considerable number of defenders and, what is more important , with the endorsement of to have swept the Chinese market and to have performed well all over the world.

The total world collection, close to 390 million euros, opens the door to a possible continuity. Although Duncan Jones claims to have a divided heart if he remembers his experience in the first installment, he admits that he is willing to take on the challenge a second time.

In his words: “If there is a chance for us to make another movie in the 'Warcraft' universe, I think we already did the hardest work on the first movie by setting the table. I would like to take advantage of those three and a half years of hard work and be able to enjoy a little of that universe now that the most difficult thing is already done. So who knows? Maybe I'm a masochist.

Recall that Duncan Jones is the son of the late David Bowie, and he claims that the results of "Warcraft" make him proud and piss him off at the same time. Complains about the subsequent mounting of the producers: “When you try to make a movie, and you try to make it in a specific way, you are killed by a 1.000 cuts death. And I'm not just talking about cuts in the assembly, but about small changes that seem irrelevant on the surface. As director, the only way I can conceive of making a film is in a holistic way.

Jones acknowledges that  he is not satisfied with the pacing of the film or the outcome, and claims that there are parts of the film that work and parts that do not.
