Barajas Llorent directs this Mexican and American co-production that has featured Carmen Salinas in its cast, Xavier López, Irma Dorantes, Jorge Galván, José Eduardo and Evangelina Sosa, among others, and whose script has been written by Llorent himself and Sergio Cabada.

'Letters to Elena' places us in the beautiful hills of Cooper Canyon, in Chihuahua, where a young boy is adopted by the postman. As part of their daily tasks, they not only deliver the mail, they also read the letters to the inhabitants and also dictate the responses, since most of them are illiterate.

Young Emilio quickly learns to read and write but is saddened by the stories sent by relatives who have migrated north of Denver, Colorado, in search of a better future. One day, Emilio takes charge of the mail and decides to change the sad letters for happy and optimistic stories. In a few days, the town is transformed. At the same time, Emilio meets Elena, his first love.

Llorent's proposal in his debut feature seeks to break with the cliché that the Mexican cinema only offers a violent and sordid look at reality, with this film that is committed to telling a hopeful family-style story. A positive view of a world dominated by an adverse reality, in which he focuses on a story of love and friendship, from Emilio, a young man who decides only to give good news to his community in Chihuahua, inhabited mainly by people older than They cannot read and therefore the postman is a central figure in their lives.

Remarkable is the solvency with which 'Letters to Elena' is filmed, which entertains at all times and whose story flows smoothly, resulting in an attractive and palatable offer.
