Low repercussion of 'Paula', the new album by Robin Thicke

Robin Thicke Paula album

A few weeks ago the singer Robin Thicke released his latest album, 'Paula', a record work especially dedicated to his ex-wife, Paula Patton, with whom he broke his relationship of almost two decades last February. Thicke's seventh studio album was released on June 30 by Interscope Records and featured the singer himself in production along with producer Pro Jay (James Gass) who had already collaborated with Thicke on his previous album.

In the new album Thicke has taken a turn of the wheel, leaving aside the dance-pop, funk and soul that characterized 'Blurred Lines', to make a more intimate album oriented to contemporary R&B, and in tune with the singer's intentions, who declared that he was dedicating this album to his ex-wife, whom he is trying to win back with little luck so far.

Although the album peaked at ninth on the Billboard 200 chart, with 24 copies sold in the first week, Thicke's new work is not achieving the same impact as 'Blurred Lines'. On the contrary, in the rest of the world the reception of 'Paula', selling only 530 copies in the UK, 500 in Canada and 158 in Australia in the week of its debut.
