First Kosovo will send film to the shortlist for the Oscar for best film in a foreign language.
The one chosen for this first participation of the Balkan country in the Hollywood Academy Awards has been "Three Windows and a Hanging" by isa qosja, who are "Tri Dritare dhe një Varje»In its original title.
Yugoslavia received up to six nominations at the time, although it never won the Oscar and Serbia has never even received the nomination. Now Kosovo will try it on its own for the first time since unilaterally declaring independence from Serbia on February 17, 2008.
«Three Windows and a Hanging»Tells how, in a traditional Kosovo village, a year after the war when people are rebuilding their lives, the school teacher Lushe is driven by her own conscience to give an interview to an international journalist, telling him that she and Three other women from the village were raped by Serbian forces. As soon as the men of the village realize that it was Lushe who spoke to the journalist, they begin a hate campaign against her and her little son, asking her to leave the village.
