For the fourth time, Klaus Härö will represent Finland at the Oscars, which makes him the filmmaker who has represented this country the most times.
This year he will seek an Oscar nomination with the film 'The Fencer' ('Miekkailija'), but toHe already tried it with 'Elina: As If I Wasn't There' ('Elina - Som om jag inte fanns') in 2004, with 'Mother of Mine' ('Äideistä parhain') in 2006 and with 'Letters to Father Jacob' ('Postia pappi Jaakobille') in 2010, he failed to get past the first cut in any of these three attempts.
To get the Oscar nomination this time, it would be the second for Finland, a country that was only present at the gala in 2003 when 'The Man Without a Past' ('Mies vailla menneisyyttä') by Aki Kaurismäki got the nomination for the Nordic country.
This year Finland will try to at least pass the first cut with 'The Fencer', a tapeSet in the 50s that tells the story of Endel, a young fencing champion who, fleeing from the Russian secret police, is forced to return to his homeland. Once there he becomes a physical education teacher at a local school. But the past returns to his life and puts him in a difficult choice.
