Corn island

George Ovashvili returns again to Carlsbad with his new job «Corn island","simindis kundzuli»In its original title.

As we noted that very good proposals have begun to arrive in recent years from Kazakhstan, when referring to another of the tapes of this new edition of the Czech contest, "Adventure" by Narinam Turebayev, we have to mention the emerging Georgian cinema which has George Ovashvili as a reference.

This Georgian director was already present at the 2009 edition of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival with his second feature film «The Other Bank'('Gagma napiri«) Film that later won the Discovery Prize at the European Film Awards.

Last year also featured a film by Georgia, who are "In Bloom»By Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Groß, which after winning the awards for best film and best actress ex aequo for its two protagonists represented the country in the category of best foreign language film at the Oscars, although it did not finally get the nomination .

Now George Ovashvili returns to the contest that bet on him five years ago with his third film "Corn Island", a film that delves into the relationship between man and nature in a very minimalist way and that some already compare with the cinema of film masters such as Bela Tarr or Andrei Tarkovski.
