karen o, the vocalist of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, has announced that he will release his first solo album this year. He has signed with the Cult Records label of Julian Casablancas (The Strokers) and the work - which will come out in September - will be called 'Crush Songs'. The album includes songs recorded by Karen O in 2006 and 2007. Recall that last year she recorded "The Moon Song", a song from the soundtrack of the film "Her", which was nominated for an Oscar.
About the album, the vocalist commented that:
When I was 27 I fell in love very much. And I wasn't sure that I could fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private during all that time and I can say that they are the soundtrack of my "crushes".
Julian Casablancas said that he is very happy and enthusiastic about how the album sounds. Karen Lee Orzolek, better known as Karen O, is the vocalist and leader of the indie group Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Karen was born on November 22, 1978, in South Korea, and has also been noted for her sense of fashion, with quirky outfits designed by her friend Christian Joy.
Interestingly, Karen won the award for the sexiest woman on stage at Spin in 2004 and 2005. In 2006 she was declared the sexiest woman in Rock by Blender. In 2007 Karen was placed in the number 3 position among the best women in Spin Rock and in 2010 she won an award as the hottest woman in music from the British magazine NME.
