The actor Jose Sacristan, with more than 50 years of career in film, theater and television, has been chosen by the Organizing Committee of the I FEROZ® AWARDS as his 2014 Feroz de Honor award. On the other hand, the film 'Illusion' by Daniel Castro has been chosen as the Special Prize for this edition. Both Sacristán and Castro will collect their awards at the awards ceremony, which will be held next Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Callao Cinemas in Madrid.

Unanimously, the members of the committee have highlighted that José Sacristán is “one of the most brilliant and versatile actors in the history of Spanish cinema and therefore of his generation, who overcame his modest physique of 'any Spaniard' to elevate his characters to the dignity of the hero ”. In its explanatory memorandum, the committee highlights "his prodigious voice and exquisite diction which, in addition to allowing him a brilliant theatrical and television career, have made him the vehicle of unforgettable and inspiring characters for the cinema." The note concludes with a resounding: "Sacristán is one of the greatest." "I am delighted to be able to receive this award while I am still active," said the actor after hearing the news, to later highlight his traditional good relationship with the media.

Born in 1937 in Chinchón [Madrid], José Sacristán has worked with directors such as Luis Garcia BerlangaFernando Fernan-Gomez o Jose Luis Garci, and has shared a cast with the best actors in our cinema, such as Concha VelascoAlfredo Landa o Agustín González. According to the statutes of the awards, the Special Prize corresponds to the film that, "in the opinion of the Organizing Committee, would have deserved better luck in its commercial career". The explanatory memorandum highlights that “'Ilusión', successfully premiered at festivals and alternative circuits, despite being a modest film, infects the love for cinema of its director, screenwriter and protagonist, Daniel Castro, recounting the adventures of a new director that he tries to make his first film at all costs ”.

According to the synopsis of 'Delusion'reflected in his press dossier, “a screenwriter and film director tries to breathe into the country part of the illusion that it seems to have lost in recent times. His idea is to make a film about the Moncloa Pacts. Of course, he wants it to be a musical ”. The film premiered in the parallel Zonazine section of the 2013 Malaga Film Festival, where it won several awards: the Silver Biznaga for Best Film, the Silver Biznaga for Best Screenplay and the Best Film for the Film Schools jury.

The Feroz Awards® will be delivered at the Callao Cinemas in Madrid, during a ceremony conducted by actress Alexandra Jiménez and directed by filmmaker Paco Cabezas.
