Yadav Kumar Bhattaraz's tape «jhola»Will be in charge of representing Nepal in the category of best foreign language film of the Academy Awards.
This will be the sixth time that Nepal present a film for pre-selection to said section of the Academy Awards, thus seeking his second nomination, since in 1999 he received the nomination "Himalaya - l'enfance d'un chef" by Eric Valli and Michel Debats, a film known in the United States as "Caravan".
"Jhola" is the director's debut Yadav Kumar Bhattaraz and it has a script by the debutants too deepak aalok y Krishna Dharabasi.
The film tells the story of an old man who leaves his luggage at the home of a writer, the latter, carried away by intrigue, opens said luggage and discovers a manuscript containing a series of stories. From there the story continues with one of those stories, set in XNUMXth century Nepal.
The story that we discover within the film is that of Ghanashyam and his mother Kanchi, who see their ties strengthened, when Kanchi was widowed and began to be prepared to be sacrificed on the funeral pyre as part of the ritual.
The film stars unknown, at least outside the borders of their country, Deshbhakta Khanal, sujal nepal y Garima Panta.
