Javier Bardem in 'Frankenstein'

Frankenstein

For some time now we have seen news related to the monsters cinema universe that universal aims to create. The new version of The Mummy is already being shot. And The Invisible Man, which will star Johnny Depp, is also planned.

Now universal is in negotiations with Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) to star in a new version of Frankenstein. At the moment it is not known the date when the film will arrive. But they are clear that it will be between 2018 and 2019. And they are dates close to those of other films so that this universe they want to create remains fresh in the minds of viewers.

It is known that it will be a project that will take place immediately after The Mummy. And that it will be an update of the classic sequel titled The Bride of Frankenstein (1935).

It seems good to me that a connected universe with greater density is made. But it also seems to me an abuse that there have been so many versions of the same character. We have to remember that another version of this movie has recently been released. And a couple of years ago there was also an adaptation with more action entitled Yo, Frankenstein (2014).

This film is followed by The Invisible Man. We also have to take into account that a new version of classics like Dracula or The Werewolf will be made. These productions will be under the supervision of a creative team made up of Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan. Within this team will collaborate with their scripts Noah Hawley ('Fargo') and Aaron Guzikowski ('Prisoners').
