That last live presentation of James Murphy in front of LCD Soundsystem in 2011 it was magnificently perpetuated in the 2012 documentary 'Shut Up and Play The Hits', made by Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern. At the end of this 2013, Murphy has just revealed that for next year he plans to release a live album of that farewell concert, held in April 2011 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Murphy anticipated that he is finishing production, after trying to finish it for a long time, but argues that some event always happened that prevented him.
Murphy revealed about this upcoming album: "I think I really refused to finish it, to close the chapter", referring to the defunct electronic group and its last live presentation. Murphy also explained that it won't be exactly the same as what was heard in the documentary: “I have produced a very different mix to which it was made for the documentary, where the visual aspect was the real protagonist ".
“The documentary was produced and mixed digitally in order to adapt it to the different projection rooms. This album on the contrary has been produced in an analog way, respecting my traditional way of working with music production ". Murphy also anticipated that this live album would be released in early 2014.
