Hydrogenesse, in addition to participating in the fifth edition of the SOS 4.8 next weekend, they have their new album ready, A Doubtful Binary Digit, raised as a tribute to the figure of the mathematician Alan Turing and his involvement in the world of computers and sounds.
During their gestation they have been bringing us up to date with a curious diary, which they have called "Turing Bits Reports". In the last entry they talk about the albums they have missed during the recording of the album. A listing including 'I Am Kurious Oranji' from The Fall, 'Computer Welt' from Kraftwerk, 'The Guitar and Other Machines' by The Durutti Column and 'Home Of The Brave' by Laurie Anderson.
But perhaps the most unexpected influence comes at the hands of Kanye West and its underrated 808 & Heartbreak. Highlights from West's album: “Kanye is our latest musical discovery. We discovered it very late. What we like about him is the minimalism, the effectism (in the voices and in the structures), the daring as a producer and the synthetic sentimentality of the drum machines and the auto-tune. "
