"Hardwired… To self-destruct" is the name of the new Metallica album

Hardwired

After a long musical hiatus of 8 years, Metallica has announced the release date of their next album: 'Hardwired… To self-destruct'. Through a message on Twitter it was made official that their new album will go on sale on November 18, the first they have released since 'Death Magnetic', published in 2008.

The message announced the news like this: "We know it's been a long time, but today we are very proud to present 'Hardwired… To self-destruct'". This work is the eleventh studio album in the discography of one of the most successful heavy metal bands and, according to its own members, "Represents the new chapter of the Metallica journey".

The group consisting of soloist James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo have revealed that the new work will be released as a double album containing almost 80 minutes of music. The first single, 'Hardwired', debuted last Thursday (25) on a radio in Minneapolis (USA), and the single is available for download online, along with a video clip made in black and white. The group members have produced the new album alongside Greg Fidelman, a well-known producer who has collaborated with renowned artists such as Adele, U2, Neil Diamond, and Red Hot Chili Pepper.

Also in these days the first part of the documentary 'Metallica: The early years' has been released, a feature film that makes a journey through the beginnings of the Californian band and containing exclusive interviews of the group, archive material and thematic playlists. The documentary compiles important moments such as the first correspondence of the fans and the birth of thrash metal, showing in just over an hour the origin of one of the most influential heavy metal bands in the world. The first chapter of the four that make up this feature film is titled 'Metal militia'.
