The No. 1 at the box office next weekend is sure to be for actor Gerard Butler's new action movie, titled "Gamer", because its distributor is spending money promoting it on television.
The bad thing that the images they have used for the trailer do not say much about the film and more than one can throw it back.
Gamer places us in the near future where they invent a television program called "Slayer" that is followed by the entire audience where battles are shown in real time and with human persons - prisoners of death row - who are directed, from their homes , by other humans as virtual avatars.
No inmate has ever made it out of the game alive until one of them, played by Butler, has survived 27 battles and if he reaches 30 he will win his freedom. However, what he seeks is revenge on who unjustly imprisoned him.
Directed by Mark Neveldine, the film features Brian Taylor, Gerard Butler, Michael C. Hall, Kyra Sedgwick, Logan Lerman, Alison Lohman, John Leguizamo, Amber Valletta, Terry Crews, Zoe Bell, and Ludacris.
PS Doesn't this plot remind you of the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie "Hunted"?
