Director Tim Burton has chosen the London Film Festival to premiere his new film "Frankenweenie" and will do so as its opening.

The director is expected to appear at the festival alongside the actors who have voiced the animated film's characters, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short and Martin Landau.

'Frankenweenie is a perfect choice for the opening of the festival; is a film that delights in the magic of the films of one of the greatest visionaries of cinema 'Clare Stewart, director of the festival, has commented.

The contest will take place between October 10 and 21, and after the screening of "Frankenweenie" at the opening, the film will begin to be screened throughout the country.
