The director, producer and screenwriter Francis Ford Coppola wins the 2015 Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts.

The award has been awarded by a jury made up of Bárbara Allende Gil de Biedma, José Luis Cienfuegos Marcello, Carlos Fitz-James Stuart Martínez de Irujo, Duque de Huéscar, Josep María Flotats i Picas, Guillermo García-Alcalde Fernández, Carmen Giménez Martín , Catalina Luca de Tena y García-Conde, Hans Meinke Paege, Rossen Milanov, Elena Ochoa Foster, Benedetta Tagliabue, Patricia Urquiola Hidalgo, Carlos Urroz Arancibia, Miguel Zugaza Miranda, chaired by José Lladó Fernández-Urrutia and with José Antonio Caicoya Cores acting secretary.

Considered one of the masters of modern cinemaFrancis Ford Coppola had its prime in the 70's when he showed us his top works, 'The Godfather', 'The Godfather - Part II', 'The conversation' and 'Apocalypse Now', although he already stood out in the previous decade with films such as 'Demetia 13'.

During the 80s and 90s it showed great irregularity, but he left us great tapes like 'The Law of the Street' or 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' already in the new millennium it has only given signs of life with three films that failed at the box office and that they were rather formal exercises such as 'The ageless man', 'Tetro' and 'Twixt'.
