With strong images and a more than interesting staging, District 9 is shaping up to be one of those science fiction movies that the general public will forget, but that fans of the genre will appreciate and value.
Perhaps the first thing that stands out in District 9 is the person who is in production: none other than Peter Jackson, the genius behind The Lord of The Rings. The movie is funded by Sony Pictures Studios and will mark Neil Blomkamp's big screen debut. The leading actors the cast are William Allen Young, Jason Cope and Sharlto Copley.
District 9 shows us a city with post-apocalyptic airs, in which An entire alien race already lives with humans, but aliens have suffered one of the worst human weapons: discrimination and marginalization. Thus, immigrants are forced to live in ghettos, while corporations profit from the biotechnology they brought with them. With a strong racist policy, the state must confront a pro-alien terrorist group that fights for the rights of aliens.
A film that makes a very interesting approach and that will undoubtedly be the subject of debate, to think about where we are going as a society. It opens in a few months.
