Director of Photography Andrew Lesnie passes away

andrew lesnie

Perhaps the name does not sound too familiar to you, much less if it is not an actor, but Andrew LennieHe was one of the most famous cinematographers of recent years, I say it was because he died at the age of 59. Lesnie was a cinematographer on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies as well as an Oscar winner for The Fellowship of the Ring.

Despite his sudden death from a heart attack, his latest work is fresh out of the oven, The Master of the Water, where actor and now director Russell Crowe first got behind the scenes.

But Lesnie not only became known for The Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit but also worked in countless productions such as Mad Max 2, The origin of the planet of the apes, The lovely bones or King Kong among many others.

Russell Crowe himself wanted to pay a symbolic tribute through his profile on social networks after learning of Lesnie's death, who was joined by Peter Jackson himself on his personal profile on Facebook, where he made it clear that Lesnie was more that a partner was like a brother that he always wanted to have and whom he came to love as such. Rest in peace.
