Filmax will present at the Cannes Market the new project of Jaume Balaguero, Titulado FLATMAT. It is a horror thriller written by Alberto Marini and set in New York. This will be the fifth solo film of the Catalan director (Los Sin nombre, Darkness, Frágiles, Para Enterse a Vivir) and the second in which the screenwriter and director work together. Its filming, in English, is scheduled for 2009. At the moment the casting is unknown.
Jaume Balaguero has established itself as one of the most recognized gender directors within and outside the country. He rose to fame with his first film, Los Sin Nombre, for which he received countless awards. All his films have been produced by Julio Fernández, for Filmax. Pending release has [REC] 2, which he co-directs with Paco Plaza and, surely, will be released later this year.
The Cannes Market runs parallel to the Festival, between May 13 and 24 and brings together the main professionals in the audiovisual sector. It is the largest platform for the purchase and sale of film products in the world.
