Denmark to seek 13th Oscar nomination with 'A War'

'A War' ('Krigen') by Tobias Lindholm is the film chosen by Denmark for the Oscar preselection for best film in a foreign language.

The film will compete for the Hollywood Academy Award nomination, formerly known as best foreign film, after passing through the Zurich Festival and the Venice Film Festival, contests in which he did not receive any awards, but which gave him very good reviews.

And is that 'A War' is among the favorites to clinch the Hollywood Academy Award nomination, which will mean the 13th for Denmark, country that has already obtained three statuettes. In 1988 he won with 'El feast de Babette' ('Babettes Gaestebud') by Gabriel Axel, just a year later he repeated with 'Pelle, el conquistador' ('Pelle Erobreren'), the last time he was raised with the accolade was in 2011 for 'In a better world' ('Haevnen') by Susanne Bier.

This year Denmark will seek a new nomination and thus be eligible for its fourth Oscar with Tobias Lindholm's film 'A War', the which tells the story of Commander Pedersen, who is torn between compliance with military regulations, his responsibility to his men and Afghan civilians and his desire to return home to his wife and three children.
