Criticism of Persepolis in Actualidad Cine

Last night I got ready to see a film that I could not enjoy on the big screen, at the time, since the life of a university student is usually very demanding in times. «Persepolis»It was a film that seduced me from the beginning, both for its aesthetics, for its plot and itself, for the committed theme it deals with.

Marjane Satrapi is an Iranian girl who travels, in her different stages of growth, the political and ideological reality of her country, counting on the particular point of view of a girl who observes a dictatorship and suffers the results of executions of relatives, of an endless war . An adolescent who travels, lives, travels, and suffers, and returns to the endless war that in the end manages to fulfill her.

The film is based on the graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi, who places herself as the protagonist of her story. It has been directed by Vincent Paronnaud, and produced by Xavier Rigault and Marc-Antoine Robert. It obtained several awards in 2007, the year of its premiere (although in 2008 it reached different parts of the world, such as Argentina).

Personally, I must say that I expected more virtuosity, more commitment from the image, in relation to the word. The subject that the film deals with is committed to a cause not only social, but also, and mainly, ideological as far as religion and politics are concerned. Therefore, I expected the same degree of commitment from the drawings, or perhaps less humor in certain scenes. The animation was a bit childish, flat, for the flight that could have been based on the story.

The story is also very well narrated, being that it makes a fine and clean cut, being able to portray with simplicity although with excellent arrival the moments of most crisis both in the country and in the characters. It is a film that I think is convenient to watch, since it provides information on issues that are sometimes difficult to access for those of us who are very far from that reality. But other than that, I don't consider it a work of art.
