Maintaining all the essence of a short film in its adaptation to the feature length is an extremely difficult task.
This has happened to director Shane Acker in his adaptation throughout his award-winning short «9» because the film does not manage to keep the same rhythm as the short, leaving a rather bland animated film.
Shane Acker has been able to make his first feature film because Tim Burton loved the short and decided to produce his film.
La film «Number 9» takes us to a future where machines have wiped out all humanity. However, the scientist who created the intelligent machine, which in turn is the creator of the rest of the machines, before dying creates nine tiny beings to end their diabolic creation.
As in almost all war movies, the Germans have to be the bad guys on duty, by using the scientist's invention to declare war on the world, but the machines will end up revealing themselves against the Germans themselves and the rest of the planet, totally annihilating the existence of humans on earth.
The film is not boring but it will not go down in animation history either.
