Coppola's criticism against Pacino, De Niro and Nicholson

coppola

Film director Francis Ford Coppola has criticized in an interview for the magazine GQ, to three of the actors who have obtained the most respect from the critics and the public over the years, it is about Robert de Niro, Al Pacino y Jack Nicholson. The reasons for the criticism is that, according to Coppola who previously worked with them, he says that the actors have lost their passion when it comes to making movies, they no longer show the same enthusiasm when it comes to playing a role.

Has the position that these actors have already achieved made them adjust to their success? Will they feel that no one can take away their position anymore? Having reached the top, is it no longer necessary to continue fighting? They are answers that personally and focusing on these actors, I cannot give, or value, but Coppola, who has already worked with them, will know the reason for what he says.

Here are some of the allusions he made in the interview.

«I met Pacino and De Niro when they were making themselves known; they were young and insecure. Now Pacino is very rich, maybe because he never spends money, he just keeps it on his mattress »

Alluding to Robert de Niro's Tribeca production company:

"De Niro was deeply inspired by Zoetrope (Coppola's film production company) and created a rich and powerful empire"

And as for Jack Nicholson ...

“I think if there was a role that he wanted, De Niro would take it, but I don't think Jack (Nicholson) would do the same (…) he has money, influence and women, and I think he looks a bit like (Marlon) Brando, just that Brando went through some hard times »
