Coldplay lost in the category of 'best british album' Y 'best british single' in view of Duffy, while the Iron Maiden they took the award to 'best live performance' and the Elbow were recognized as'best english group'.
A hugely disappointed Chris Martin commented upon leaving the ceremony:
"We just got back from Japan ... and only to lose all the 'Brits' we were nominated for ... frankly, it's been a shitty day ... to forget".
