This weekend, in between the American premiere, there will also be room, albeit small, for a co-production between China and Hong Kong, entitled City of Life and Death.
This film has the particularity that it is black and white, to better reflect the atrocities of the war.
The synopsis of the film is as follows:
The Nanking massacre refers to "the atrocities committed by the Imperial Japanese Army in the vicinity of the Chinese city after the fall of the capital on December 13, 1937." The film (which until a while ago was known as "Nanjing! Nanjing!") Follows the fate of various characters, some fictional, others real, such as a Chinese soldier struggling to survive the horror of indiscriminate slaughter, a traumatized Japanese military man for the atrocities committed by the Japanese army, a teacher or a German businessman focused on protecting as many lives as possible.
