Today we are talking about another film related to education, although perhaps you have not heard of this film because it is Chinese and this usually translates into less impact in our country. The movie is 'Not one less (Not one less)', directed by Zhang Yimou ('The flowers of war') in 1999, and performed by: Minzhi Wei, Huike Zhang, Zhenda Tian, Enman Gao, Zhimei Sun, Yuying Fen, Fanfan Li, Zhang Yichang, Xu Zhanqing, Liu Hanzhi, Ma Guolin, Wu Wanlu, Liu Ru, Wang Shulan, Fu Xinmin and Bai Mei, accompanied by non-professional actors playing characters based on themselves.

The script written by Xiangsheng Shi tells the story of Wei Minzhi, a poor young thirteen-year-old student which is assigned to substitute for a teacher, but with the severe condition that none of the small students (not much younger than her) give up attending classes, under penalty of not receiving their salary. The young woman begins an emotional and desperate search for one of the students when he does not show up at school.

In my opinion, this is the film of education without means par excellence. An education in an environment of poverty. An education for a makeshift teacher devoid of any preparation. For me, this is what the film shows us, that even in the most disadvantaged environments in which the means are so scarce, that there is no budget or for chalk, you can educate, you can and you should. The teacher in the film, a 13-year-old girl unqualified and unprepared for the job, and with little hope of being paid for the work she is going to do, has to fulfill the main task entrusted to her by her predecessor, who no child leaves school.

Fortunately, she soon "learns to teach" and gives us a clear example applicable to all teachers, that as such we should not lock ourselves in the walls of the classroom, the teacher looks for the escaped student to return him to the place where he belongs, the school . Unfortunately, they quote in the film that 1.000.000 Chinese children drop out of school. It is a very sad fact, which fortunately does not occur in Spain, but we must fight to motivate the interest of students and awaken their desire to learn, so that they do not fall into absenteeism.
