Cannes 2014 Preview: “The Homesman” by Tommy Lee Jones

The Homesman

Tommy Lee Jones will compete again for the Palme d'Or of the Cannes film festival with his new behind-the-scenes job, "The Homesman."

After three films, two of them for the small screen, Tommy Lee Jones shoots "The Homesman", a film that takes him once again to the official section of the French competition.

Tommy Lee Jones was already present in the official section of the Cannes Festival with his debut for the big screen «The three burials of Melquiades Estrada«, A film that ended up giving the director himself the best actor award and the best screenplay award to Guillermo Arriaga.

This new film by Tommy Lee Jones as director, will again star himself, just like the previous ones. The Oscar winners will accompany him in the cast Hilary Swank y Meryl Streep,  John lithgow, which we will see this year in "Interstellar" by Christopher Nolan, James Spader in fashion again thanks to the television series «The Blacklist» and Tim Blake Nelson Recently seen on "Blue Caprice".

Set in 1855 Nebraska, «The Homesman»Tells the story of a pioneer who has to accompany three insane women across the prairies of the United States.

Every year the occasional film that passes through Cannes ends up being nominated for the Academy Awards, so it would not be surprising if "The Homesman", if it is well received at the French festival, was one of the candidates for the Oscar.
