Men of Straw awarded in Strasbourg

Straw Men

The Spanish short film "Hombres de Paja", directed by Joaquín Asencio and produced by Lemendu Films, has been awarded the prize for best photography at the Festival du Film de Strasboug (Strasbourg, France).

The director of photography, Álvaro Gutiérrez, is a 32-year-old young man from Seville, who also directed the photography of "Under the stars", which was a winner at this year's Malaga festival. The film, inspired by the Gescartera case and other various scandals, tells the story of Lourdes, a young widow who investigates the death in strange circumstances of her husband, allegedly linked to a dark plot of real estate corruption. ? It stars Agustina Covián, Manolo Solo ("Pan's Labyrinth"), Christophe Miraval ("Alatriste"), Paco Tous ("Paco's Men"), Antonio Dechent ("The Mata family") and Nazaret Jiménez Aragón ( "Tell me"). ? The production company firmly opted for the short film, producing it with its own means, subsequently obtaining a grant from the Ministry of Culture for a short film made.

"Hombres de paja" has only been awarded at international festivals outside of Spain, including the Los Angeles Short Film Festival (USA), the Imperial Beach International Festival (California, USA) and the Staten Island International Film Festival (New York, USA), in the category of "Best International Short Film".
