Attendance at Spanish films increases

Surprise in Spanish cinema given that more than eight million viewers chose Spanish productions during the first six months of this year when going to see a movie at the cinema, increasing market share to reach the 17,84% as reported from the Ministry of Culture.

It should be noted that this figure almost doubles the number of viewers who attended movie theaters to see Spanish films during the same semester of last year, where there were 4,996,556 viewers compared to current viewers 8.218.822.

Since last January and until June, some 209 Spanish films were shown between the premieres of 2011 and different productions made in previous years with a collection that exceeded 53 million euros.

Regarding the classification of feature films in order of collection, there are three Spanish titles among the top 20: Torrente 4: Lethal crisis by Santiago Segura, Midnight in Paris (produced by Spain) and Also the rain by Isabel Coixet.
