Atlantida 2014: Review of "Why don't You Play in Hell?"

Why don't You Play in Hell?

Halfway between the early days of Guy Ritchie and Tarantino's "Kill Bill", we find the new Sion Sono tape "Why don't You Play in Hell?»

This new work of Sion I am, one of the most acclaimed directors in Asian cinema, is a cross-story film with a tone between parodic and surreal.

The story about some yakuza who want to immortalize the battle with a rival side using some amateur filmmakers, who do not hesitate to risk their lives to shoot a masterpiece.

Several stories that come together in a festival of blood and guts, probably too long, is that the rhythm of the film during its first hour makes the viewer stay in the seat with some entertainment, but its second hour becomes repetitive.

Sion Sono parodies the genres for which he has become known and does not hesitate to dress one of his protagonists as himself Bruce Lee and is that in "Why don't You Play in Hell?" References to other films abound, since the film itself is an ode to cinema, that art that has separated the young protagonists from the bands with which they have finally been involved to shoot the film.
