Arctic Monkeys and James Blake among Ivor Novello nominees

Last week the nominees for the awards were revealed Ivor Novello Awards 2014, a recognized award dedicated to composers and lyricists who represent professional excellence in the musical field in the UK. Among the main figures of British music that appear in this 2014 edition of the Ivor Novello, there are groups and soloists of the stature of Arctic Monkeys, Disclosure, Everything Everything, James Blake and Palma Violets.

The consecrated AM of the Arctic Monkeys is nominated for the Best Album of the Year award alongside Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' Push The Sky Away and Laura Mvula's Sing To The Moon. Palma Violets' single Best Of Friends will compete in the Song category with Best Music and Lyrics against the songs Love Me Again by John Newman and Strong by London Grammar.

The Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song will have as finalists Latch from Disclosure, Kemosabe from Everything Everything and the refined theme Retrograde by James Blake. The award for the best musical work of the year will have as competitors the songs Emeli Sandé for Clown, Passenger for Let Her Go and Olly Murs feat. Flo Rida by Troublemaker. The British awards ceremony will take place on May 22 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in the city of London (England).
