Danish filmmaker Lore Scherfig casts established British writer Nick Hornby (A big boy, Hifi) for the script of An Education, the film that will mark the arrival of the director to the world of Hollywood.
The production summoned a top-notch cast (perhaps attracted by the novel duo), in which the actors PEther Sarsgaard, Carey Mulligan, Alfred Molina and actress Emma Thompson. Scherfig's work paid off when he took home the Audience Award at the last Sundance Festival.
A It will be set in the 60s and the protagonist will be a 17-year-old girl from the suburbs of London. Her life will change when she meets Brit, a man older than her who will seduce her with all kinds of gifts, putting her studies at the University of Oxford at risk.
Filming will begin in London next March, under production by Endgame Entertainment and BBC Films.
