The story of "Beasts of the Wild South" takes us to a forgotten and proud community, installed in a marshy area formed by the meanders of the Mississippi River, cut off from the world by an immense dam, where the little Hushpuppy, six years old, is at about to be orphaned. His mother is long gone, and his adored and crazy father is always on the go. Hushpuppy must manage as best she can in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by semi-wild animals. He perceives nature as a fragile web populated by things that live, breathe and expel water, and that the universe depends on everything fitting together perfectly. But when a storm raises the waters around his town, his dad suddenly falls ill, and Hushpuppy discovers that the natural order he loves so much is about to collapse. In a desperate attempt to repair the fabric of the world and save her father and home, this diminutive heroine must learn to survive an unstoppable catastrophe of epic proportions.

Undoubtedly a very appetizing synopsis for this film whose name sounds strong for the Oscar for best film, and whose script was written by the director of the film, Benh Zeitlin with the help of Lucy Alibar, the author of the play “Juicy and delicious” on which the film is based.

In the artistic section: Quvenzhané Wallis (hush puppy), Dwight henry (winks), Levy easterly (Jean), Lowell Landes (Walrus), Pamela Harper (Little Jo), Gina Montana (Miss Bathsheba), Amber Henry (LZA), Jonshel Alexander (Joy) and Joseph Brown (Winston), among others.

'Beasts of the Wild South' is a visceral and powerful proposal of the new indie cinema that has an unstoppable staging and a speech that appeals to the strength of the human spirit to face any situation. In "Beasts of the Wild South", Benh Zeitlin looks into material misery and finds behind it all the allure and beauty of the human being. The gaze of the girl protagonist, Quvenzhané Wallis, brings the fragility and determination that her character needs. Highly recommended.
