Finally there will be no film in Castilian for the next edition of the Oscars. None of the films that had been selected by the Spanish-speaking countries to qualify for the statuette have not managed to pass the first cut to be able to choose the finalists as reported by the Hollywood Academy.

The 86th edition of the Oscar, which will be held at the famous Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on March 2, 2014, has already released the list of the 9 selected feature films, of which the 5 final nominees will come out and will be published the next day January 16th.

The titles chosen from the 76 that were presented are: Two Lives (Germany), The broken circle breackdown (Belgium), An episode in the life of an iron picker (Bosnia Herzegovina), The missing picture (Cambodia), The hunt (Denmark), The grandmaster (Hong Kong), The notebook (Hungary), The greay beauty (Italy) and Omar (Palestine).

In this way, all the countries that had presented films in Spanish are left out and the hopes of Spain, which presented 15 years and a day, by Gracia Querejeta and starring Maribel Verdú and Tito Valverde, sink.
