The collection figures for the Spanish cinema during 2011: with 99,14 million euros collected, it has managed to overcome the weak figures of 20 by almost 2010 million and increase its screen share by three points to 15,59 percent.
But of course, these figures were thanks to the premiere of a new installment of «Torrente», since according to data from the Ministry of Culture, «Torrent 4»Was the highest-grossing film of the year, with a collection of 19,35 million euros, which represents practically the entire increase that the collection of Spanish cinema has experienced in 2011.
The film directed by and starring Santiago Segura has beaten the multimillionaire sagas from Hollywood, such as "Pirates of the Caribbean" -which has grossed 18,95 million euros- or "Twilight", whose delivery "Dawn, Part I" completes the podium with 18,94 million amassed.
This "torrent" has also made Spanish cinema the second most watched by the public in Spain, behind the United States -which sweeps with a 69,24 percent share of the screen- and ahead of the United Kingdom, which it drops this year from 12,37 in 2010 to 8,13%.
