Shane Gibson, former Korn guitarist, dies

Shane-gibson

Former guitarist of Korn, Shane gibson, died last Tuesday at the age of 35 due to a blood clotting disease, the band StOrk reported on their official Facebook profile. "Shane was one of the best guitarists the world has ever known and his virtuosity was only matched by his wit and generosity of spirit," wrote the group of which Gibson was a founder.

The musician, who died in a hospital in Alabama, joined Korn -the nu metal band led by Jonathan Davis- in 2007 in the place that Brian Head Welch had vacated two years earlier to face "the demons of addiction." Following his departure from the band in 2010, Gibson worked on musical projects such as the aforementioned stOrk, as well as Schwarzenator - a metal band inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger movies - and DeFable, a mix of metal with traditional Japanese music.

He was born in Los Angeles, California, but grew up in Florida, and started out as a guitarist at age 13. Gibson was known for his solo work, which highlights his frequent use of heavy riffs, polyrhythms, innovative sequences that add a touch and his impressive sweep. Shane also formed his new heavy metal band called Stork, with drummer Thomas Lang.
