Rumors have again begun to emerge about the possible release during 2014 of the long-awaited album by Peter Gabriel, which bears the provisional title of 'I / O' and which would be the successor to 'Up', the last studio work published by the British musician in 2002. As it was with 'Up', which took a process of almost a decade to run, the new 'I / O' had originally been scheduled for release in 2004, and there has been speculation about its release ever since.

In a recent interview Gabriel gave updates on the upcoming album stating: "The new project is still standing, I have enough material already prepared, and other ideas to complete it, but before finally editing it there are some things still pending". Gabriel's new work would be made up of a total of 20 songs, almost all of them unpublished, since the theme would be included 'Why don't you show yourself…' included in the film 'Words With Gods' by Guillermo Arriaga.

On this subject Gabriel added: "I think that including one or two songs of this type on the album, with melodies and rhythms totally different from the others, could be something original and even fun". While his representatives remain completely hermetic on the matter, rumors on the internet assure that Gabriel has returned to work in the recording studio in what appears to be an album with which it is speculated that he will return to his roots.
