The Roar Uthaug Tape 'The Wave' ('Bolgen') will be in charge of representing Norway in the Oscar preselection for best film in a foreign language.

The Scandinavian country has not done badly at the Hollywood Academy Awards, despite not having a very outstanding filmography, Norway has obtained five nominations on the 36 occasions that it has been presented for the preselection.

The Wave

In 1958 Norway presented itself to the Oscars for the first time and got the nomination with 'Nine lives' (' Ni Liv ') by Arne Skouen, it returned to get the nomination thirty years later with' The Pathfinder, the guide of the gorge '(' Ofelas ') by Nils Gaup, in 1997 he opted for the Oscar for' The other face of Sunday '(' Sondagsengler ') by Berit Nesheim, in 2002 again for' Elling 'and for the last time he attended the gala in 2013 for' Kon -Tiki 'by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg.

Now Norway will seek its sixth nomination to be eligible for the first statuette with the action film, from the subgenre of environmental phenomena, 'The Wave' by Roar Uthaug.

'The Wave' tells the story of Kristian Eikjord, a geologist who discovers that a natural disaster that occurred in 1934 can be repeated, when an avalanche caused a large rock to fall into a fjord generating a great tsunami that swept away everything. With the information he has, he rushes to save his family.
