The synopsis tells that in the year 1845, in the early days of the Oregon Tuta, three families hired mountain man Stephen Meek to guide them over the Cascade Mountains.
But in the days that follow, migrants must face the scourges of hunger, thirst, and their own lack of faith in the survival instincts of others. When a Native American wanderer crosses their path, everyone is torn between relying on a guide who has proven to be unreliable and a man who has always been seen as the natural enemy.
