Madrid will have its own international film festival from spring 2008, as announced? the promoter of the event, the CIM & ART Foundation. Films Madrid This festival will be called, which will take place between March 28 and April 5, 2008, and will feature the screening of some twenty films that will compete in the Official Section, the Filma Madrid Section and the Opera Prima Section.
The First Edition of the Filma Madrid Festival will also have a series of screenings out of competition, with colloquia and debates with the attending public on other artistic disciplines such as music, costumes or photography. The CIM & ART foundation, chaired by María de Kannon Clé and with the actress Angela Molina (photo) among the members of its board of trustees, its objective is to promote different artistic manifestations and will create a series of scholarships so that young talents can finance their projects.
The selection of films will be made through a committee made up of film professionals who will ensure an interactive festival. 'What is intended is that the public can intervene, so a colloquium will be held where attendees will be able to ask questions about the projected film to directors and actors who present their works out of competition', explained María de Kannon Clé, president of the Foundation.
