Klaus & Kinski - Blacksmiths and Fatigue (2012)

Klaus & Kinski

The first time i hear Klaus & Kinski Back in 2008, apart from being overshadowed by a couple of songs, I thought they wouldn't have much future beyond surprise, because I believed that the singer's tenuous and fragile voice was going to end up weighing down a musical project as eclectic as the one they offered in that inspired debut  "Your Bonfire Is Burning."

But it was no coincidence that Marina's voice fit so darn well in pieces as diametrically opposed as "Mengele and love" o "Roonie O'Sullivan", and it was not because in reality within the rich instrumental base it demonstrates its solvency moving like a fish in water through very different styles, and this is how my theory has sunk, since the singer's voice has ended up becoming the identity seal of the project.

Always embracing fragility and telling everyday stories (sometimes traumatic) using irony, the group arrives this third album "Blacksmiths and Fatigue" with the impression of continuing in a permanent state of grace. It is not easy to find such broad-mindedness in Spanish pop, so at first it only comes to mind SingleThe group Teresa Iturrioz (Le Mans). And this is how they embrace the couplet in "Sacrifice" and they don't mind mixing electronic arrangements with eminently rock guitars in "Deep Peaks", surprises that give color to an album in which the dreamy pop that they have been used to delivering stands out. And they hit the bull's eye again on such accurate themes as "Sonnet", "Contract" or "The Pension" and they give the impression that they have refined and ultimately improved their project in a clearly upward direction where only they will know where the top is.
