Kate boy It has been one of those surprises within the electronic music scene that are coming with a dropper. After three years with only three EP's published - 'Northern Lights' (2012), 'The Remix' (2015) and 'Kate Boy' (2015) -, this electro-pop band from Stockholm has more than proven that their is making quality music. The band Kate Boy is made up of Kate Akhurst (vocalist), Markus Dextegen and Hampus Nordgren Hemlin, all three participating in the creation of lyrics and the production of their songs.
Kate Boy has just released the video for the single 'Midnight Sun', which features the band's highly anticipated debut album, 'One'. In this self-produced and directed video clip, we see Kate Akhurst dance at her home, where the song was written. Without too much fuss or display, the video for 'Midnight Sun' manages to work thanks to an aesthetic that moves between the minimalist and the bizarre, with an elegant result that is very welcome in these times when so few people decide -or can be dumped into video clips. In the production of the single 'Midnight Sun' they have had the collaboration of Christoffer Berg (Depeche Mode, The Knife, Fever Ray).
The premiere of 'One' It is expected for the month of November, although neither the exact release date nor the album tracklist is yet known. What is certain is that, if 'One' ends up with the singles already released, I think we already have half a tracklist discovered. My more critical side hopes - and wishes - that 'One' will surprise us with a whole album of new material.
