Iggy Pop talks about Ron Asheton, his friend

As we all know Ron Ashton, guitarist of the stooges, passed away just a few days ago at his house located in the city of Michigan. At that moment, a shocked Iggy Pop he could not make any statement.
Well, this morning he gave his first official interview to a couple of North American radio stations.

"As long as I don't think about it, I'm fine ... when I start to think about it, I'm not. Ron had a magical touch as a musician.
He developed a unique sound that many did not grasp at first, but over the years it was influencing Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana.
"He said.

"For whatever reason, my mind keeps going back to Ann Arbor club and bar days, college dances, and so on.
I knew him little in college… we were two of the first students to grow their hair out… we used to get in trouble for it
”He continued.

"Last Tuesday I got a call from the Stooges manager. He said 'call me, I need to tell you something very important' ... I knew from the tone of his voice that it was something serious and I started to feel strange ... Ron had passed away"He added.
