In the story, a father and his 13-year-old son are devastated by the tragic loss of their mother, and now they live with their grandmother. At school the boy meets Hesher (Gordon-Levitt), who has a troubled past and tortures him.
Meanwhile, Nicole (Portman), is a young supermarket employee who protects the boy from Heser, and he falls in love with her. The movie was directed by Spencer susser.
