According to the chief commissioner of the Italian capital, Marcello Fulvi, robberies in Rome have increased by 10%. This increase has affected the Oscar winner, Italian film director, Giuseppe Tornatore, who got his Oscar thanks to his work with Cinema Paradiso.
The 51-year-old director was the victim of an assault last Tuesday. As he was walking through the streets of Rome, two men with Eastern European accent attacked him, wounding his head and leaving him unconscious, and stole his wallet, his watch and his mobile phone. Admitted since then, today, he has received the latest medical tests and has been discharged. He left the hospital covering his face with a sheet to avoid photographs.
