Cuba will seek its second Oscar nomination with "Conducta"

Behavior

20 years after his only nomination, Cuba will try again to get a new application with "Conduct".

In 1994 Cuba presented its eighth film for the pre-selection to the Oscar de Best Foreign Language Film, «Fresa y Chocolate» by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea and Juan Carlos Tabíos, which ended up being present at the gala held in 2015, although in the end it did not get the precious statuette.

Since then the country has sent another nine films, but has never repeated the success of 94, something that could change this year with "Conducta" by Ernest Daranas.

The film has enjoyed great success in Spain, specifically in the Malaga Spanish Film Festival, where he convinced the jury and the public, winning the awards for best film and best director, as well as the Audience Award from the Latin Territories section.

«Behavior»Tells the story of Chala, an eleven-year-old boy whose life passes in an environment of violence, with a mother addicted to drugs and alcohol, and fighting dogs that he trains to support his home. This child who enters school without shedding his marginality and violence, has a special relationship with his teacher Carmela.
