"Carol" favorite at the Spirit Awards ... and the Oscars

Todd Haynes' 'Carol' is the big favorite at the Independent Spirit Awards, the independent film awards, and is confirmed as a firm contender for the Oscars.

The film receives up to six nominations, best film, best direction, Double Nomination for Best Actress with Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, best script and best photography. His rivals in the main category are 'Anomalisa', 'Beasts of No Nation,' Tangerine 'and' Spotlight ', the latter already winner of the Robert Altman Award.
