South Korean cinema will be represented in the Un certain regard section of the Cannes film festival for July Jung's tape "A Girl at My Door."
«A Girl at My Door«,« Doheeya »in its original title, it is one of the debuts that can be seen in the quintessential section of the prestigious European competition, July Jung's.
South Korean cinema has had some very good years lately, and in Cannes it has been well represented with films by great directors with Kim Ki-duk, Hong Sang-soo, Park Chan-wook or Im Sang-soo, although last year there was no film neither in the official section nor in Uncertain regard.
This year South Korea is once again represented in Un Certain Regard, although it is not with a film by one of the heavyweights, but with the debut of July jung "A Girl at My Door."
This film starring Doona bae, Hie Jin Jang y Sae-byeok song tells the story of Do Hee, who experiences family violence through her stepfather. The chief of the police substation, Young Nam, tries to protect her, although the seemingly naive Do Hee hides a secret that puts her protector in danger.
