Prolific Japanese director Takashi Miike will fight for the Palme d'Or of the Cannes film festival with "Straw Shield."
The same year that he will appear for the Sitges Festival, a contest that holds him in high esteem, Takashi Miike will be in the official section of the French contest.
Miike already opted for this award just two years ago with «Hara-kiri: death of a samurai«, Although he did not end up receiving any awards. Two years, and no less than five films later, the filmmaker returns to Cannes in search of an award.
So prolific is this director that this year he will go through at least two major competitions, Cannes and Sitges, with two different films recently released, as he will pass through the Catalan festival with «Lesson of Evil«.
«Straw shield»Tells the story of a murder suspect who has to fight to survive as the victim's billionaire grandfather has offered a trillion yen to whoever delivers him, dead or alive.
For this new work, the famous Japanese director has had Tatsuya Fujiwara who we have seen in «Battle Royal», Takao osawa or the leading actress of the film «Ring» Nanako Matsushima.
